Renk, Steyr plan hybrid-transmission demonstrator, WEAPONS AND EQUIPMENT


German transmission system manufacturer Renk and Austrian armoured vehicle manufacturer Steyr-Daimler-Puch (part of General Dynamics European Land Combat Systems) are expecting to roll out a tracked vehicle demonstrator for a new hybrid electric transmission in early 2008.


The demonstrator, developed as a private venture, is to be based on Steyr's Ulan tracked infantry combat vehicle, which will be fitted with a REX (Renk Electric Crossdrive) hybrid driveline system coupled to its existing HSWL 106 mechanical transmission.
