LT450 Termite hand-held computer (United Kingdom), Computing - Terminals and workstations

Description
The LT450 Termite is a rugged hand-held computer which offers considerable flexibility. The replaceable/reconfigurable keymat allows users to define their own layouts and swap between keymats designed for specific applications. An extensive range of interconnection options is available through standard or custom connector adaptors which can also be changed by the user to suit different applications. These are provided on an interchangeable connector block which fits on the back of the case. The LT450 outer case is available in lightweight magnesium alloys, or aluminium, fully plated and painted with epoxy paints to provide full environmental protection. The VGA colour TFT LCD has a variable backlight and optional viewing hood and is capable of providing real-time Video display.A 5 ampère hour battery pack gives over 2.5 hours of continuous use and over 5 hours with Windows power-saving modes. A battery holder is also available to suit the BB2800 military standard battery and an adaptor also allows the unit to be run from Clansman batteries. Special anti-tamper switches are provided and user operated purge buttons allow manual purge of data encryption routines; these operate even if the Termite is powered down or has lost its battery supply. The manufacturer claims that Termite will withstand up to 2 m submersion in water through a dual sealing technique. The seals also ensure that Termite is suitable for transport and use at high altitudes, at low pressures and will also maintain EMC compliance.A number of variants exist with different display and processor options (see
