Programme
Initial R-50 model developed for agricultural spraying from 1983 and entered service in 1991. Advanced R-MAX introduced in late 1997, featuring more powerful engine and larger spray tank, flight stability system, low-fuel indicator and automatic rotor stop system. SkEyes Unlimited, a prime contractor for US Army-sponsored programmes using a fleet of RMAX Type II aircraft fitted with LADAR systems for airspace deconfliction, UAV obstacle and collision avoidance research. The G-1 introduced in October 2005 and certified in January 2008, and a military version, the Mk IIG, used by the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force in Iraq. More than 2,000 produced by the end of 2010.
